Audio Transcription

Audio transcriptions use Voice AI to turn your call recordings into text, so you can read what was said instead of listening back to the whole call. This makes it faster to check details, search past calls, or share what happened without replaying the recording.

How it works

When audio transcriptions are turned on for a number, 2talk transcribes each recorded call using the Voice AI engine. The transcript is generated using the transcription mode and timing you've selected, then attached to the call record once it's ready.

Transcripts are generated using AI and may contain errors. Check a transcript for accuracy before relying on it.

Cost

Audio transcriptions are billed in units per minute. The number of units used depends on the transcription mode and timing selected. Current unit rates and per minute costs in cents are shown on the settings page when you select a mode and timing.

Most 2talk plans include an allowance of Voice AI units, which can be used for audio transcriptions and other Voice AI features. If you need more, a Voice AI unit bundle lets you buy extra units upfront and save.

Transcription modes and timing

Transcription mode sets the quality of the transcript. Three modes are available: Essential, Focus, and Studio, in order of increasing quality. Higher quality modes use more units per minute.

Transcription timing sets how quickly the transcript is processed. Two options are available: Standard and Express. Standard transcripts are expected within 24 hours, and Express within 60 minutes. Express uses more units per minute than Standard.

Mode and timing can be combined, so a customer can choose the balance of quality, speed, and cost that suits them. Unit and per minute costs for each combination are shown on the settings page.

Setting up Audio Transcriptions

Audio Transcriptions are managed in the Cloud PBX module, under Voice AI > Call Recording Transcriptions for the number.

  1. Turn on call recording for the number. Audio transcriptions require call recording to be turned on first
  2. Go to Voice AI > Call Recording Transcriptions and tick Enable audio transcriptions.
  3. Use Select transcription mode to set the quality level for transcripts.
  4. Use Select transcription timing to set the turnaround, either standard or express.
  5. Check Units per minute to see the units and per minute cost in cents for the mode and timing selected.
  6. Tick Accept terms to confirm you've read and accepted the Voice AI Terms and Conditions. This must be ticked before audio transcriptions can be enabled.

Audio transcriptions and call recording are both off by default.

Accessing transcripts

Once transcripts are being generated, you can access them from the Calls page in Cloud PBX. This gives you a view of call activity across all numbers, including recordings and transcripts.

  1. Open the Calls page to see all calls on the account in a single view.
  2. Where a call has been transcribed, use the Actions column to view and copy the transcript, download the recording, or listen to the recording.
  3. Use the search and filter tools to find specific calls by date range, duration, direction, destination, or source.
  4. Use Transcription contains to enter text to search for calls where the transcript includes a specific word or phrase.
  5. Use Calls of type to narrow results to one or more call types, such as Inbound, Mobile, or International.
