Default 2talk Broadband Settings
Default router, DNS and SMTP settings for 2talk broadband services
UFB or Fibre Broadband
2talk supports flexible connection options for its UFB services, including PPPoE and DHCP (IPoE). At the time of ordering, customers may choose whether to enable VLAN tagging (ID 10) or leave it untagged. This approach streamlines migration by enabling matching to existing configurations and minimising router modifications.
Please ensure all router settings are correctly configured, particularly the PPPoE username and password where applicable. These credentials can provide a secondary authentication method if primary port-based authentication is unsuccessful.
PPPoE (Standard settings used on 2talk services)
Encapsulation Protocol: PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
Encapsulation: Optional 802.1Q ( Also known as VLAN tagging ) - check if this was ordered
VLAN tag ID: Optional VLAN 10 - check if this was ordered
IP MTU: 1500 Bytes or AUTO
Username: Please use the username that we have provided. This would have been emailed to you. Please log a support ticket at live.2talk.co.nz if you do not have this.
Password: Your 2talk password
PPPoE Configuration Note: A blank username is not supported and will result in a connection failure. If PPPoE is in use, please ensure valid username credentials are entered.
DHCP (Sometimes called IPoE) - Instead of PPPoE
Encapsulation: Optional 802.1Q ( Also known as VLAN tagging ) - check if this was ordered
VLAN tag ID: Optional VLAN 10 - check if this was ordered
IP MTU: 1500 Bytes
Both options will assign an IP address, gateway and DNS servers to your router
ADSL
PPP protocol: PPP over ATM (PPPoA) with VC-multiplexed encapsulation (VC-MUX)
VPI: 0
VCI: 100
IP MTU: 1500 Bytes or AUTO

VDSL
PPP protocol: PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)

These will be automatically allocated by the PPPoE or DHCP protocols.
